New Threat for Apple OSX users

Actually that isn’t an accurate statement. This thing isn’t new. These articles are dated 2013 and May 2014, so it isn’t really very new. It is new to me because I don’t work with many Apple users.

There are similar hijack programs that work on Windows computers, and they are much more serious on those.

What happens is that you get a screen demanding money to release your computer or IOS cell phone from the malware. It may look something like this:

The details may be different, but if you see something like this threatening to arrest you for kiddie porn or making terroristic threats, you will know you have been attacked.

Fortunately with Macs there is a fairly simple solution (see the second link below) that just involves resetting your Safari browser.
